Price of a Soul
I stepped out into the cold morning chill and shivered as I zipped up my jacket then headed towards my bike. I tried not to look to my right. I didn’t want to see whether or not Selena’s smart car was there. She had come over again last night.
Golden and I had stayed home yesterday from school, per Kyler’s and Mr. Isaacs’ suggestion. I had three teachers that had given me packets for the semester, so I did the work for them before Golden and I started a Jurassic Park marathon. We were on the second one when Paxton came home.
Later, I made some chicken fajitas for dinner with refried beans and Spanish rice. By the time dinner was done, Crew and Zane came over with overnight bags. Apparently, they were staying with us, too. I had been happy about that bit of news.
After dinner, we did our homework, including the work the guys picked up from my teachers, thanks to a forged note from my mother. Around seven-thirty, Paxton let us know Mr. Isaacs and Selena were coming over to put the kids down. I made myself scarce and went down to my room. The boys followed, and we ended the night watching Impractical Jokers. I think the boys were now just as hooked on the show as I was.
It would have been the perfect day and night if Crew was talking to me more and if Selena hadn’t come over.
I decided to wake up early this morning and go to the gym. I needed to get back into top form. Some of the girls I attended dance with in the past had parents that could afford to hire private tutors for them. They were able to dance for eight hours a day. I was lucky if I was able to squeeze two hours before school and four hours after school, what with homework and school demands. But I knew if this was my dream, sacrifices had to be made.
Right now, the plan was two hours in the morning before school, and I still needed to talk to Zane’s mom. By winter I needed to send out applications for college, and if I didn’t get back into my top dancing form, I wasn’t going to set myself up for failure.
I hopped on my bike and started it. I really didn’t want to get up this early, especially since I had been sandwiched between Zane and Paxton all night. It had been the second-best night of sleep I had gotten in my whole life. With Golden, Zane, and Paxton’s body heat, and the way they all would hold me or touch me while I slept, gave me a sense of security I’ve never felt. I enjoyed sleeping with Lucas, but I guess it was different when romantic feelings got involved.
When I arrived at school, there were only three other cars into the parking lot. I parked near the gym and hurried inside. I wasted no time stripping down to my tank top and boy shorts.
